Crystal from John Street Dental spoke to advise everyone that the Queensland government has started a Lift the Lip campaign, encouraging parents to lift the top lip of children who go to bed with a bottle containing milk or juice to check for caries (early signs of tooth decay showing as white spots on the teeth by the gum line)

Kate Madden is service leader of Grace Creche and Kindergarten. Even though she is only a recent member of the Grace team, years of passion to educate and develop children has brought Kate to where she is today. She is yet to have her own but is looking forward to her pending wedding mid next year. 2014 Guest Speakers

Deborah Fay is a holistic counselor and founder of My Life Juice.  Deb is a qualified Holistic Counsellor and Life Coach, and has a Diploma in Meditation Teaching.  In addition, Deb is a Qualified Pathways to Resilience Facilitator for Teenagers and Pre-Teens.  This important program promotes resilience in young people with the view of assisting them to maange anxiety, depression and ultimately avoid any thoughts of suicide and self harm.  As a facilitator, Deb is qualified to work with groups of young people and put them through the Friends for Life (7-11 years) and Friends Youth (11- 16 years) programs.  Deb is also a Licensed Louise Hay “Heal Your Life” Teacher/Trainer.  A certified member of the International Institute for Complimentary Therapists, and a member of the International Meditation Teacher’s Association, Deb is also a Certified Holistic Feng Shui Consultant.

Sharon Armstrong is a lactation consultant, child health nurse and child educator at Embrace Life Mango Hill.  Sharon spent her adolescence babysitting and working with families, travelling the world working as a nanny and nursing with families from all walks of life. Sharon’s greatest joy comes from seeing families discover the love of parenting and growing happy children.  Sharon has a Diploma of Applied Science Nursing, Masters of Nursing, BSc (Hons) Public Health (Health Visiting), and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Tom Law’s background includes 21 years in the Army and managing a gym for 5 years working with people with disabilities.  Tom took part in a three episode ABC T V show called “Unlikely Travellers” where they trained and took 6 intellectually disabled people on an adventure in Egypt.  Tom left the gym business in 2010 to start working his own mobile Personal Training and Group Training business called Tom’s Law.  Tom works voluntarily with both adults and children in order to encourage and maintain health, and was awarded the MBRC Sportsman of the Year at this year’s Australia Day awards.

Tom provides have one free PT session a week at Youth Park Suttons Beach and 12 sessions throughout the week from Redcliffe to Strathpine, Lawnton and Ferny Hills.  The sessions include 15 year olds and 83 year olds, ranging from fit, not so fit and just starting out in fitness.  Tom is 58 years of age but still does sessions every day of the week and talked to Pandora Parent Group about the balance of life, how to fit in exercise into part of each very busy day, and how looking after ourselves as parents helps to look after the whole family.  Tom is contactable through his Facebook page at Tom’s Law or on 0409 274 502.

Melanie Toye is a mother, wife and writer. With a son of her own, she learned very early on that after six months of age, babies need fun activities too. Her motto is: “if I am bored, my child is bored too.”  Melanie has published 8 eBooks since the arrival of her beautiful son.  Melanie realised she wanted her passion of writing to be her career, so worked to be home for her son and show him if she could chase her dreams, he could too.  You can view more about Melanie Toye here.

Toni and Rebecca of the Redcliffe Library came to spend some time with our older babies who enjoyed a short baby rhymetime.  Both ladies talked about the benefits of visiting the library, and gave us information about their website.  Babies can be joined up to the Redcliffe Library from birth.  Visit Redcliffe Library and click on the ‘kids’ tab on the left hand side of the screen to access information about what is available for children.  The library provides free storytimes, rhymetimes, book clubs and encouraging reading for children.

Stefanie Kerwin is a Medical Herbalist, Homoeopath, Massage Therapist and Reiki Master who practices at and is a director at Aurora Wellness, a beautiful multi modality natural health clinic in Rothwell. Susie is a trained nursery assistant and works to assist families with their babies’ sleeping and feeding routines. Susie extends her learning by learning up-to-date techniques and research to assist families with concerns related to feeding (including breastfeeding), sleeping and behavioural concerns. She has the ability to support parents in a non-judgmental manner and gives parents the confidence to conquer their children’s sleep issues.  Any sleep training is difficult, and can involve tears from both sides, but Susie gave us the confidence to proceed while supporting our baby to fix his sleep routine.  Susie can be contacted at susanwarner@optusnet.com.au or on 0403 492 743.
